Car smashes into Carterton home, house damaged, person trapped under vehicle

A car has driven into a Carterton house and left a seriously injured person trapped under a car.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand said it was called about 3.50pm and sent crews from Carterton, Greytown and Masterton.

Police said the incident was in a shared driveway and the person hit by the car had been standing outside the house.

A person was trapped under the car and Fire and Emergency was working to free them.

“Inquiries to establish exactly what happened are under way” said police.

Wellington Free Ambulance said it would be airlifting one person to Wellington Hospital in a moderate condition.

There is structural damage to the house.
