Nobody appears to have been injured in a one-car crash near Twizel this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the Pukaki end of Mt Cook Road in Canterbury at 1pm.
A car had rolled and landed in a ditch.
A caller had reported the vehicle was on
fire, but it was only steaming, a police spokeswoman said.
