Motorists travelling on Auckland’s Northwestern Motorway have been warned to expect delays after a car caught fire this afternoon.
NZTA Waka Kotahi posted on X that a vehicle fire had blocked the two right eastbound lanes on State Highway 16 between Rosebank Rd and Great North Rd.
“Pass with careand expect delays until cleared.”

In an update at 3.20pm, NZTA said the breakdown has now been cleared.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said they received a call about 2.12pm about a car on fire on the North Western Motorway, city-bound between Rosebank Rd and Great North Rd.
“We sent two fire trucks. The fire has now been extinguished and we have left the vehicle for the transport agency.”
A car is on fire on SH16 eastbound between Te Atatu and Avondale.
