Car crashes into West Auckland takeaway shop in late night crash

A car crashed into a West Auckland fast-food restaurant late last night.

Photos from the scene show police assessing the Nissan SUV, which was fully inside the takeaway, at the intersection of Te Atatu Rd and Great North Rd in Glendene.

Debris from the crash could be seen strewn through the store.

Police say they received a report of a single-vehicle crash on Great North Rd around 9.50pm yesterday.

“The shop was closed at the time, and there were no reports of injuries,” a spokesperson said.

They said inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand sent two crews to the incident.

After an assessment, it left the scene with police, a spokesperson said.
