She dropped it off to her friend after learning of the Crawfords' impending visit.
"I think this Irish lady probably thinks that New Zealand has about 20 people. It's a tiny village that they live in in Northern Ireland," Mrs Crawford said.
A five-week trip with three children in tow meant the mystery was not high on the agenda, she said.
Back home in New Zealand, the Westmere family contacted the Herald in the hope of finding the owners.
A selection of the photographs from the recharged camera, which appear to have been taken in 2010, are above.
"We nearly chucked it out in Barcelona and France ... but for some reason it made it back here," Mrs Crawford said.
