Buses replace holiday train rides

Remember to take note of the special public transport timetables for the Christmas/New Year break.

There are reduced bus, train and harbour ferry services from Christmas Day to Sunday, January 5.

And from December 27-29, buses will be replacing trains between Wellington and Masterton to enable the changeover to a new railway bridge.

Bicycles cannot be carried when buses replace trains.

The Metlink Service Centre will be open during the Christmas period but its hours of operation will be slightly different than usual.

On Christmas Eve, the centre will be open from 8am-8pm and it will be closed on Christmas Day.

From Thursday, December 26 to Sunday, January 5, the centre will be open from 8am-8pm.

Normal operating hours and timetables will resume on Monday, January 6.
