Burst waterline causes extensive flooding

A burst main water line has blown out a transformer and caused extensive flooding in an industrial area in Auckland.

An Auckland fire communications spokesman said today the water main burst about 4am in the suburb of Penrose.

Fire crews were on the scene along with water company's trying to control the flooding, he said.

The area was mainly industrial and the spokesman said he was not aware if power had been restored.
