Inspector Bruce O'Brien said criminal behaviour that targeted vulnerable members of the community is "disgusting" and won't be tolerated by police.
"I urge residents, not to let people into their homes that they do not know and if you feel threatened or scared in anyway then please call 111 immediately,' he said.
"Also, never disclose your pin numbers to anyone."
Mr O'Brien said the community can help by reporting any suspicious behaviour to police.
"Even if it seems minor, such as a person or vehicle you have not seen in the area before.
By working together, we can keep those most vulnerable in our communities safe."
Police want to hear from anyone who may have been a victim of this type of crime so that they can respond and help prevent it from happening to others.
