The man charged with flying into a rage when Wendy's staff got his burger order wrong is not allowed to go back to one of his favourite fast food takeaways.
David Ilolahia, a furniture remover from Blockhouse Bay in Auckland, has been charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, damaging a Wendy's computer till and disorderly behaviour.
The 35-year-old appeared at the Auckland District Court today where Judge Lisa Tremewan outlined his bail conditions, one of which prevents him from going to Wendy's in Lynfield.
Ilolahia's lawyer Eb Leary asked for an adjournment so he could look into the case.
"There seems to be more to the matter than meets the eye.''
Ilolahia told APNZ on the weekend that he was a regular Wendy's customer and went to the fast-food shop in Lynfield at 10.30am on Friday where he placed an order at the drive-through.
He said staff got his order wrong and when he went inside to complain, the manager "blew me off''.
Staff at the Lynfield store locked themselves in the office to escape Ilolahia's alleged rampage as police say he shouted and pushed over a computer till.
A police officer tried to restrain the man and emptied a can of pepper spray into his face. Ilolahia said a scuffle broke out when police tried to arrest him.
He was taken to Auckland City Hospital where he was treated for cuts to his elbows and got 10 stitches in his head.
Ilolahia described the incident as a "communication breakdown kind of thing" that escalated.
