Budget funding for ventures and regional development

The Government's 2001 Budget has allocated $100 million to a venture investment fund.

Of that, $50 million will be taken from Crown Research Institutes, to be matched with $50 million from State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) to set up the fund.

The Government also announced a $34 million package for regional and economic development.
