Brothels not wanted on Kapiti Coast, says survey

Most Kapiti Coast residents do not want brothels in their area, a Kapiti Coast District Council survey shows.

District planner Andrew Guerin said the council had had submissions from schools, church groups, health organisations and senior citizens groups and the overriding message was that they did not want big, commercial massage parlours or brothels set up in Kapiti.

Mr Guerin said escort services were operating in Kapiti but no brothels.

"I believe it's unlikely that large-scale brothels would be established in Kapiti."
