The Broadcasting Standards Authority, which has just dealt with Prime Minister Helen Clark's complaint over TV3's 2002 pre-election "Corngate" coverage, is preparing for another potentially long consideration of a complaint over a television broadcast.
It will deal with a complaint laid by Auckland fishing company Simunovich over TVNZ's Assignmentdocumentary on scampi, broadcast in October 2002.
That story helped lead to a parliamentary inquiry into the management of the scampi fishery over the previous 14 years, an area fraught with rivalry, complex fisheries law and many court cases.
