Brazilian critical after crash

A 23-year-old Brazilian cyclist is in a critical condition after his bike collided with a 4WD in Queenstown this morning.

Sergeant Linda Stevens of Queenstown police said the crash happened about 8am on Malaghan Road.

The Brazilian was flown by helicopter to Dunedin hospital in a critical condition with head injuries.

The 16-year-old driver of the 4WD has been spoken to by police.

Ms Stevens said police would like to hear from any witnesses to the crash and from anyone who regularly travelled between 7.30am and 8.15am on Malaghan Road between Manse Road and Lake Hayes-Arrowtown Road.
