Boy missing for nearly a month: police

A 14-year-old boy last seen in Auckland has been missing for almost a month, police say.

Paora Peachey was last seen in Henderson, west Auckland, on July 19 and has not made any contact with his caregivers since.

He is a male Maori, about 1.7m tall and of medium build with short dark hair.

Police believe he could be in the Auckland area or he could have returned to his home town of Gisborne.

Police and his family have concerns for his safety due to the length of time he has been missing.

He has run away previously but never for more than a few days, so this disappearance was out of character for him, police said.
