A 5-year-old boy has had his leg impaled by a stick after falling while climbing trees at a rural property east of Te Kuiti.
The accident happened about 2.30pm today, a Philips Search and Rescue Trust spokeswoman said.
The boy fell from a significant height and was taken to Waikato
Hospital by Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Then, about 5pm, the chopper was called to the scene of a single car crash on Waitomo Caves Rd.
Several people - including two brothers - were injured when the vehicle they were in rolled over, a Philips Search and Rescue Trust spokeswoman said.
