Boy hospitalised after Whangarei crash

A 10-year-old has been taken to Whangarei Hospital in a serious condition following a crash on in the Whau Valley.

A southbound car struck the boy as he was crossing Kamo Road south of
Bedlington Road at about 5.30pm.

The driver stopped immediately and is cooperating with police.

Police said alcohol did not appear to have been a factor in the crash.

SH1 southbound was closed for a short time but has since re-opened.
