Boy arrested after ramming cop car

A 14-year-old Fairfield boy was arrested after allegedly ramming an officer's car and not paying for petrol, police say.

Mosgiel police tracked a car to a nearby street with the assistance of the public, after a report at 11.40am today that it had left a BP service station without paying for fuel.

As the police car turned into the street it was rammed by the offending car. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and became immobilised.

There were no injuries.

The four occupants of the car then fled through neighbouring properties.

Several cordons were set up and a dog team was used to help find them.

The 14-year-old driver was arrested on theft, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and unlawful taking.

Two 14-year-old girls and a 15-year-old boy were charged with unlawfully entering a motor vehicle.
