Boy, 11, found driving eight tonne loader

Police found an 11-year-old boy driving an eight tonne loader in Canterbury yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Warren Newbury said officers had first stopped a truck and trailer in Southbridge and then the JCB loader following it.

"Police were surprised to find the loader was being driven by an 11 year old boy," he said.

"The boy was the son of the truck driver."

The owner, the father, has been charged with aiding and abetting an unlicensed driver.
