Bouwer gets 13-year-non-parole period

Convicted murderer Colin Bouwer today received a 13-year non-parole sentence in the High Court at Dunedin.

Bouwer, 51, former head of psychological medicine at Otago University, was convicted last month of murdering his wife, Annette, 47, by poisoning her with drugs which replicated the symptoms of a rare tumour.

Justice Panckhurst delivered the sentence this morning which means Bouwer will be behind bars for 13 years before being considered for parole.
