Boss gives hand-out in Budget protest

A Wanganui employer is giving his employees a hand-out because he believes the Government failed to give them a hand-up.

Pacific Helmets owner David Bennett said he was so disgusted with the Budget, he decided to give his staff the money now.

The 50 staff at the plant were told last Tuesday they would be getting an extra $14 a week in their pay from this Wednesday, he said.

The company would pay it until the tax cuts kicked in on October 1.
