An Eastern Bay of Plenty college principal accused of drug use and sexual harassment has resigned.
Kawerau College's Steve Hocking went on leave early February amid longstanding allegations he used cannabis and sexually propositioned a student.
Both Mr Hocking and his partner resigned last Friday, effective from that day.
Ministry of Education statutory manager Lex Hamill says the couple has cited the need for a fresh start.
"Mr Hocking made a statement to the effect... that he wished to tender his resignation in the best interest of the school moving forward."
Mr Hamill says Kawerau College is now looking for a new principal.
