The annual Heart Foundation book sale is being held in Masterton Town Hall this long weekend.
Co-ordinator Sandra Debney said there were about 40,000 books set aside to be sold over the three-day weekend.
About 12 to 15 volunteers sort through the books each week as they arrive via a
Masterton businesshouse.
"Our oldest [volunteer] is 91," Mrs Debney said.
The sale benefits from free Eftpos provision and transport by Cross-Country Rentals, among other sponsors.
