A bomb threat has shut down part of Victoria University's Kelburn campus in Wellington.

The Von Zedlitz building has been evacuated and all classes and tutorials cancelled until one this afternoon.

Police are at the scene carrying out an assessment of the threat.

Affected students are being offered assistance in the Hub.
