Body found on Wellington coast

A body was found at Red Rocks on Wellington's south coast this morning.

An ambulance was called to the car park in Owhiro Bay about 9.50am at the request of police, a Wellington Free Ambulance spokesman said.

One person was found dead, he said.

No further details were available and police were not commenting immediately.

The body was found in the same general area as that of Wellington man Tony Stanlake, whose body was found on a beach at Owhiro Bay on July 9, 2006.

His hands had been removed and his neck partially severed.

Daniel Moore was later found guilty of his murder.
