Body found in rubble after Waipapa Bay house fire

A body has been found in the rubble of the house, near Kaikoura, that was engulfed in flames on Saturday evening.

The fire service was called to the property on State Highway 1, Waipapa Bay, 30 kilometres north of Kaikoura at about 8:30pm yesterday.

Marlborough Police investigators confirmed the body was found in the rubble and said it would be taken away for a post mortem examination and formal identification.

The investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing.
