Bob Harvey has won his fifth term as mayor of Waitakere City Council.
He won with 23,515 votes against challengers Vanessa Neeson who got 10,357 and Steve McDonald who got 7033.
He told the Herald last month that developing Waitakere's infrastructure was the biggest issue for the city in the next three
years.
"This will be achieved by the tertiary complexes in Waipareira Ave and downtown Henderson, the double tracking of the western railway line and the growth of the film industry in Westiewood - Hollywood comes to Waitakere."
Despite opposition he has also been a big campaigner for retaining the Whenuapai Airport to create jobs.
He said he wanted Waitakere to be "a modern, 21st-century city that is economically and environmentally sustainable."
Preliminary result
Harvey, Bob - Team West 23,515
Neeson, Vanessa - Independent 10,357
McDonald, Steve - Independent 7033
