'Blood' worth bottling

Never mind such old-hat vodka flavours as feijoa and manuka honey: now a liquor company plans to distil the essence of All Black into a bottle.

The makers of 42 Below vodka say they want to capture the flavour of Richie McCaw and Dan Carter.

Former cricketer Dion Nash, the company's global marketing director, said: "For a long time we have thought about bottling the essence of Richie McCaw or Dan Carter into an earthy, salty sort of New Zealand botanical vodka."

Nash said they had not yet talked to the NZRU.

And sports agent Dean Hegan, whose company represents Carter and McCaw, said he couldn't comment until there was a more detailed proposal.
