Block of flats on fire in Stokes Valley, Lower Hutt

Four fire crews are battling a blaze in the Lower Hutt suburb of Stokes Valley.

The fire service responded to the incident on George St at about 9.50pm, after receiving multiple calls from the public.

One flat, out of a block of four, was "fully involved" said central Fire Service shift manager Mike Wanoa.

Wanoa said all persons were accounted for and support crews from the area were continuing to help four appliances battle the fire.
