Black ice warning on Rimutaka Hill Road

Police are warning motorists of black ice on the Rimutaka Hill Road north of Wellington this morning.

Central communications centre spokesman Sergeant Andy Dow said emergency services have attended a crash on State Highway 2 near Marchant Rd, north of Upper Hutt.

Mr Dow said there have been reports of black ice between Upper Hutt and Featherston overnight.

"We ask that you drive with care and on these chilly winter mornings drive to the conditions."
