There are fears for the owner of a bike left near a South Island lake as police make an urgent plea for information, a week after the bike was first spotted.
The bike has been at the Temple Campsite shelter off Lake Ōhau Rd, 50km west of Twizel, since atleast December 27, Sergeant Matt Sheat said.

“Our concern is that the owner may be overdue from a trip or have got into trouble in the area, and we want to hear from the bike’s owner, or anyone who may know who it belongs to,” said Sheat, the Otago Coastal Search and Rescue co-ordinator.
“If you recognise this bike, or may have seen who left it at the Temple Campsite shelter, please contact us.”
