Bare-chested man demands 50c from bank

A bare-chested would-be bank robber fled a Hamilton bank as staff laughed at his robbery attempt and demand for 50c.

Police said, the man, in his early 20s, entered the Victoria St TSB bank on Monday with a bandana over his lower face and demanded $10, the Waikato Times reported.

When the teller said she didn't have any money he asked for 50c before crouching into a starting race position and running from the bank.

A passing police officer caught the man, and he was later assessed by medical and mental health staff.
