Bank cards of missing Waikato woman found by girl on side of the road

The bank cards of a Waikato woman who has been missing for over two months have been found by a young girl.

Kim Louise Richmond was last seen at her home in Arohena on July 31, before leaving the address in a silver Ford Ranger ute.

After Richmond's bank cards were found on the side of the road on State Highway 46 between Rangipo and State Highway 47 near Otukou last week, the police specialist search team were deployed in the area.

Detective senior sergeant Ross Patterson said a check in the same area after the discovery of the bank cards located a farm card belonging to Richmond, but nothing further.

Nearby Lake Arapuni was lowered as much as possible so a search of the lake's edges could be carried out.

The Waikato police boat and another vessel from the Waikato Regional Council were joined by the Eagle helicopter to scan the lake yesterday.

"We are following up on anything new we receive but still we need the support of the public to help us bring Kim home for the sake of her family," Patterson said.

Richmond left her home in a 2014 Ford Ranger utility with the number plate HKD553.

She headed south from her Wharepapa South farm, an "out of character move" according to police.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have sighted someone throwing items out of a vehicle on State Highway 46 over the past few weeks.
