Bail for baby murder accused

A 27-year-old man charged with murdering his baby daughter about eight weeks ago, has been granted bail now that a full psychiatric report has been completed.

Kevin Joseph Charles Little is accused of murdering seven-month-old Alyssa Patricia Little-Murphy at Nelson on March 25.

Making his third appearance in Dunedin District Court today, Little was granted bail on condition he lived at a specified Balclutha address and reported to police as directed.

In addition, he was ordered not to contact or associate with named persons and not to go to Nelson.

Prosecutor Tim Hambleton confirmed police had seen the psychiatric report and that bail was no longer opposed.

Judge Stephen O'Driscoll granted bail and remanded Little to June 1.
