Baby boy dies from 'serious head injuries'

A homicide investigation has been launched after a one-year-old Whangarei boy died after suffering serious head injuries.
Police said the baby was taken to Whangarei Hospital with significant head injuries about 10am yesterday.
He was airlifted to Auckland's Starship Hospital early yesterday afternoon, but died shortly before 11pm yesterday.
Police
said a post-mortem examination was being carried out today to determine the cause of death.
Police were speaking to the baby's family and talking to neighbours of a property in Carlton Crescent in Kamo.
