Australian man missing in Nelson

An Australian man has been reported missing in the Nelson Lakes National Park and a search involving dogs, field teams and a helicopter is now underway.

Dominic Marozzi, 47, failed to return from a run around Lake Rotoiti yesterday. He was last seen at West Bay car park at 12.45pm and police understand he meant to run around the lake, up along the west shore and back along the east shore.

He was expected to return from his run about 3.15pm and the alarm was raised when he had not returned after 5pm.

Mr Marozzi was lightly clad for a cold night but had a whistle and survival sheet with him, Inspector Hugh Flower said.

A search around Lake Rotoiti was launched last night and resumed at first light today.
