Audi has confirmed it will go ahead with an all-electric version of its R8 supercar.
Range projections weren't looking promising, but the engineers have been back to the drawing board and figured out how to stretch its potential range from just 214km to nearly 450km.
Audi says it is because
of progress in battery technology, including ways to store the power source more efficiently and reducing the power drain from other components.
The R8 e-tron will be used to test other upcoming technologies such as drive by wire.
The e-tron will be built to order and should cause a real stir, says Audi. It has extraordinary acceleration from a standing start.
