Auckland Council confirmed one of the vehicles involved belonged to infrastructure services provider Ventia, a council contractor.
On Wednesday last week, a car mounted a kerb and hit two people sitting outside the William Souter Espresso cafe in Auckland’s Forrest Hill.
A woman was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where she died from her injuries. Two other people sustained moderate injuries.
Tributes for victim Sarah Clark poured from the community, including Windsor Park Baptist Church, where she worked, which called her a “dear colleague and friend”.
The church said Clark, who worked as the manager of the Windsor Park LifeCare Trust, would be remembered for her deep faith, leadership and friendship, along with “the genuine care she showed to so many”.
“It’s changed the family, and we’ll offer every care and support that we can for them, obviously, for their kids who have lost a mum as young teenagers. You can’t imagine how hard that is.”
