One dead after serious crash on SH1 closes road in Dome Valley, north of Auckland

One person is dead after a serious crash on State Highway 1 north of Auckland yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash on SH1 near L Phillips Rd in Dome Valley about 6.45pm.

The driver of the vehicle died at the scene, police said. No one else was in the car.

Hato Hone St John said it responded with two ambulances, a first-response unit and a critical-care unit.

However, a spokesperson referred any further queries to police.

The road reopened shortly after 9.15pm.
