“There was like 20-something police officers around here. Maybe even more.”
It’s understood the fight involved alcohol and broke out over a broken urn.
“You could just hear the car smashing into the cars.”
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Hayward, of Counties Manukau West CIB, said the fight began after a disagreement at a Hauiti Rd address.
“This fighting spilled out on to the road, and two people were chased down the road.
“One of the two alleged aggressors got into a vehicle and drove down Hauiti Rd.
“A short time later, this vehicle collided into two parked vehicles on Hokonui Rd.”

“The driver exited, and fighting continued in public. One person has been struck over the head with a weapon and was knocked unconscious.”
The Herald understands the person hit with the weapon was a young man who was also run over by a car.

“A second person was also subjected to an assault. Both aggressors then fled the scene in another vehicle,” Hayward added.
“Police were later called to a Manurewa address, where a man believed to be involved required medical assistance for injuries.
“Our investigation remains ongoing, and we are not currently seeking anyone in connection with this offending.”
