Police are investigating an unexplained death in the suburb of Devonport on Auckland’s North Shore.
Police are investigating an unexplained death at a Devonport property, which has left neighbours shocked.
The death occurred in the suburb of Devonport on Auckland’s North Shore late on New Year’s Day.
A police spokesperson said police were called to the property at 11pm.
Multiple neighbourstold the Herald they understood the home’s owners were a couple in their 60s who were not at the property at the time of the incident.
One neighbour said they believed the owners were on holiday on Waiheke.
They said they understood multiple people had keys to the home and pool, but they didn’t know if anyone was staying there at the time of the incident last night.
Another neighbour described the street as tight-knit, where “everybody knows everybody”.

A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said they did not hear anything out of the ordinary last night, other than the sound of a fire engine about midnight.
