Police investigating a fatal house fire in Ōtāhuhu say the blaze was not suspicious.
Emergency services were called to a property on fire on Tamaki Ave, about 9pm last Wednesday. One person was found dead inside a shed, understood to have been used as asleepout.
“Police investigating a fatal fire in Ōtāhuhu on 4 March have determined there are no suspicious circumstances,” said a spokesperson.
The death would be referred to the coroner.

Speaking after the blaze, Fire and Emergency assistant commander Chris Delfos said the shed appeared to be inhabited.
“Crews arrived and were faced with a well-involved, medium-sized shed,” he said outside the burned Tamaki Ave property.
“We did not have any indication that there were persons trapped in the building, and while the crews were extinguishing the fire, they unfortunately found the deceased.”
