Multi-vehicle crash on Nelson St causes major delays in central Auckland

Emergency services are responding to a multi-vehicle crash on Nelson St

Two fire engines, an ambulance, and a critical care vehicle responded to the incident in Central Auckland, near Wellesley St, shortly after 2:50 pm.

Police confirmed the crash involved three or four vehicles.

A white Toyota ended up on its side, and a black Toyota sustained significant rear damage.

One vehicle has since left the scene.

Witnesses reported that an elderly driver was trapped in the flipped vehicle but was removed safely.

Police described the worst injury as moderate, with no life-threatening injuries reported.

A Herald reporter at the scene said traffic was heavily affected in the area, with congestion extending to nearby roads and the motorway.

A tow truck has been called in.
