Long delays after truck crash at Bombay, start of Auckland Southern Motorway, lane blocked

A car and truck have collided at the beginning of Auckland’s Southern Motorway, causing delays for traffic into the city around the Waikato border.

Police said they were notified of a crash on State Highway 1 (SH1) in Bombay, near the Beaver Rd off-ramp, at 7.12am.

The crash involved a car and a truck, with both northbound lanes initially blocked.

“One person has suffered moderate injuries,” police said.

One northbound lane has since been cleared, while one remains blocked.

Police said they were working to clear the remaining blocked lane, and motorists should expect delays travelling northbound.

New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) urged motorists to follow the directions of emergency services and allow for extra time to get to their destination.
