Firefighters work to put out large house fire in Papakura, Auckland

Fire an Emergency work to battle blaze at Auckland property.

Firefighters are working to put out a large house fire in the South Auckland suburb of Papakura this morning.

Three fire crews are still at the property on Gibbs Cres, Redhill.

Fire and Emergency shift manager Colin Underdown told the Herald they were called to the fire at 3.19am by multiple calls from the public.

He said the house was well alight but was not a threat to neighbouring properties.

Everyone inside the home when the fire broke out had been accounted for.

Witnesses posting on Facebook about the blaze reported seeing “huge flames” coming from the burning property.

A police spokesperson said they were told about the fire at 3.20am.
