An electric scooter rider has been critically injured after a collision with a car in central Auckland this afternoon.
Police were notified of the collision at the intersection of Mount St and Symonds St at 4.05pm.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to follow directions from emergency services staff at thescene.
Police officers have taped off the accident site. A scooter lies on its side in the middle of the road and a silver vehicle involved in the crash is parked nearby. It has a large dent in the front left panel.
The witness said someone from a shop ran out to help the man before paramedics arrived.

Another person said they heard a loud crash and it looked like the person involved went flying.
Auckland Transport is warning of detours for several bus routes as a result of an “emergency service incident”.
It has closed Symonds St in both directions from Wellesley St to Mount St.
