One person is injured after a truck blew a tyre along Auckland’s Northwestern Motorway, causing massive delays in both directions.
The blown tyre caused the truck to swerve and come to a standstill, blocking two westbound lanes. The incident occurred on the State Highway 16 causeway between Waterview and TeAtatū this morning, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) said.
Police said a truck had blown a tyre along the causeway, triggering “massive delays” on the arterial route.
Hato Hone St John said it was alerted to the incident at 10.35am and responded to the call with one ambulance.
Paramedics at the scene assessed a patient, who was transported to Auckland City Hospital in a moderate condition.
It is not yet known if the injured person was travelling in the truck or another vehicle.
One westbound lane was reopened around 11.45am, NZTA said, with the final lane freed up by 12.30pm.

Traffic cameras showed heavy congestion for westbound vehicles, with traffic heading into the city also slowing to a crawl.
“All lanes are now open. Allow extra time for congestion in the area to ease,” NZTA said.
Westbound traffic was stalled from the Waterview Connection interchange for several hours, while eastbound traffic slowed significantly around the Patiki Rd and Rosebank Rd turn-offs.
Google Traffic data showed vehicle movement being restricted in both directions, although it has since softened.
