A car fire on Auckland’s Southwestern Motorway is causing long delays for traffic heading into the city.

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) says the left northbound lane on State Highway 20 (Southwestern Motorway) was closed between SH20a off-ramp and SH20a on-ramp.

It was reopened at 11.30am, but NZTA was still warning of delays.

“Delay your journey or allow extra time for travel via alternative routes.

“Consider exiting SH20b at the Puhinui Rd interchange.”

According to Google Maps, traffic heading north is backed up for about 7.7km.
