Auckland Southern Motorway crash: Truck and car collide, ‘extensive delays’ expected

Several lanes of Auckland’s Southern Motorway were blocked after a truck and car crash during the morning rush hour.

Police said they were called to the crash between a car and a truck at 6.43am.

“The car has rolled, with one person suffering moderate injuries.”

The motorway was down to one lane northbound near the Princes St off-ramp in Ōtāhuhu.

All lanes have since reopened.

Police earlier advised motorists to expect “extensive delays”.

At 7.45am it was taking 1 hour and 14 minutes to travel from Bombay to Auckland city on the Southern Motorway.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) said lanes two to four are blocked following the accident.

“Pass with caution and expect delays in the area. Please follow the directions of emergency services.”
