Auckland police charge man who allegedly indecently assaulted students and teacher outside high school

A man has been arrested over numerous indecent assault allegations involving high school students, an on-duty staff member and an elderly woman.

Police say a 64-year-old man from West Auckland was arrested in the North Shore suburb of Milford on Monday, February 16, after an incident outside a school.

Relieving Waitematā East area commander Mike Rickards says police were alerted by the school. A staff member had been on duty after school when an alleged indecent assault occurred.

“A man has allegedly indecently assaulted the teacher before she confronted him,” he says. “The alarm has been raised when other teachers saw this confrontation and immediately contacted 111.“

The man was arrested shortly after. He has been charged with doing an indecent act.

Rickards says his arrest also progressed inquiries into a series of events on November 11, 2025 alleged to involve similar behaviour, this time directed towards several high school students.

At the time police were unable to locate the man responsible but on Friday two additional indecent assault charges were laid against this man.

He has also been charged with assault over a separate incident in November 2025- allegedly involving an elderly woman at St Lukes.

The man has appeared in the North Shore District, and will reappear, on new charges, on February 27.

Rickards acknowledged the actions of the school community during the “awful events”.

“The students did the right thing at the end of last year and reported the offending, this information informed the school network, so on Monday staff sprang into action.”
