Auckland fire crews battle Herne Bay house fire, two assessed for smoke inhalation

Five fire engines, an aerial unit and a command unit have been sent to battle a house fire in Herne Bay, Auckland, tonight.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand were called to a house fire on Curran St at 7.43pm Friday and sent three fire engines to the scene.

When they arrived, firefighters saw a kitchen fire on the ground floor of a two-storey house and called for assistance.

Five fire engines and other emergency crews attended a house fire in Herne Bay, Auckland, on Friday night.

Two more fire engines, an aerial unit and a command unit were sent to the scene.

Hato Hone St John said they were called to assess two patients at the scene for possible smoke inhalation.
